Role: User Researcher, User Designer (UX/UI)
Challenge with Light Hall

Product Design Super League Season 3 with Light Hall is a multi-level project-based competition – a great chance to showcase skills and win finalist perks. I joined the first week of Light Hall's weekly contest with new challenges. While I didn't move to the next rounds, I'm grateful for the initial stage experience.

Challenge

What's in my food?
Design a non-interactive mobile app that allows the user to scan the bar code of a food product, in order to see a “health score” for the item.

The Research

Given the time constraints of the project, which was one week, I conducted an expedited research to gain a better understanding of what factors are typically included in a health score and how to present it effectively to users. From what I gathered:

Prototype

I incorporated a cartoon-style image to create an inviting visual appeal. In the prototype, my primary objectives were to make it easy for users to quickly see the food quality while glancing at the homepage. Additionally, to ensure that the nutrition page remains straightforward and comprehensible for all users.

Reflection

In response to Light Hall's feedback, I will enhance the food descriptions by incorporating additional details regarding the potential dangers associated with certain ingredients or food items. Furthermore, I will restructure the presentation of ingredients to improve visual aesthetics. Additionally, I will include a greater number of actual images of food to provide the users with a more realistic experience within the app.
